Jacob Souza was born near the sometimes sunny beaches of Santa Cruz, CA where he spent his childhood close to nature, constantly traveling with his family. He later moved in-land to a small town near Modesto, California known as Turlock. This is where Jacob developed his passion for cinematic images.
Jacob has had a large amount of work experience working in production as a PA, grip, 1st AC and DP. his experience continues in post as an editor and colorist. Being well versed in shooting, editing and coloring makes Jacob a great one-man-band. This allows him to create and execute a vision from start to finish. He has won numerous awards for his films including, "Best Cinematography" in San Francisco's 48 Hour Film Project and 1st place in an internet film contest hosted by Film Riot.
"Even when I'm not working, I take a small point and shoot everywhere I go to capture the way light interacts with the status quo. For me, constantly enhancing my skills in photography directly correlates into my cinematography work. Im able to take what I see from the real world and translate that into a controlled cinematic language. It's my truest form of expression."
As an amateur musician, Jacob's goal is to combine his creative eye with his musical ear and create content for musicians.
He is currently based in Los Angeles, CA.
